Alma "Sugar" Granger, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Vinton on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
Sugar has been a resident of Vinton for over 30 years. She was a business owner since the late 1950's. One of her most favorite pastimes was talking to friends in her CB club. She was known as "Honky Tonk Angel". She also enjoyed dancing, and having a good time with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Granger, daughters, Deborah Simon and Patricia Bee Bee, father, Oscar R. Ware, mother, Mary Bell Sample, and a brother, Richard Ware.
Survivors include her sons, Sam Granger of Hemphill, Texas; Kenny Ashworth of Starks, La; daughters, Tammy Granger of Starks, La; Kelly Bergeron; and Brandy Thibodeaux both of Vinton; a brother, J. W. "Sonny" Ware of Olympia, Washington; a sister, Iva Ware Duffy of California; twenty-two grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton. Rev. Thomas Bruce will officiate. Burial will follow in Nibletts Bluff Cemetery.
