Alvin Lee DuBois, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at his home in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on October 28, 1942, to Odilon and Gussie (Stelly) DuBois in Patterson, Louisiana.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Marie (Wingate) DuBois and his children, son Douglas Allen DuBois and his wife, Denise and daughters Heather Linn DuBois Motschman and her husband Chuck, and Jennifer Kay Duncza and her wife Maria. Alvin also leaves behind to celebrate his memory, four much adored grandchildren; Danielle Alexandra DuBois and fiancé Leland Thomas, Paige Michelle Reed, Gavan Thomas Motschman and Madelyn Grace Motschman. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Jane Blackshear and her husband Ricky and Aunt Beatrice Stelly Sharp as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A graduate of Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas; Alvin attended college and obtained his private pilot's license. After raising his children in Hardin, Texas, Alvin lived in Sykesville, Maryland for seventeen years where he was a member of Elders Baptist Church. Upon return to Texas, he lived in Glenn Heights where he was elected Mayor in 2005. Upon his retirement, he built his home in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Optimist International Club and Millwrights Local Union 2232.

Alvin found no greater joy than making people laugh, especially his beloved grandchildren. He never met a stranger and considered those he loved to be family. Generous to a fault, no one in need was ever turned away coming to him for help. He passed his love of Corvettes on to his son, Doug, and they restored a classic 1963 Stingray convertible together. Although he gave up his days as a pool shark when his children were born, he remained a fierce competitor when playing billiards, dominoes or card games with friends and family. His retirement years were spent enjoying time with his wife, grandchildren and dogs, gardening and working on projects in his shop.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Odilon and Gussie DuBois; son, Alvin Lee DuBois, Jr.; granddaughter, Ashley Nichole DuBois; and twin brother, Calvin Roy DuBois, Sr.

A memorial celebration will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel in Nacogdoches officiated by Pastor Pat Kelly. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Alvin will be inurned at Swift Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Mr. DuBois' name to the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware Disaster Relief, 10255 Old Columbia Road, Columbia, Maryland 21046.

Arrangements under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
