Rev. Alvin Gilbert Meissner entered his heavenly home at age 83 on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in Round Rock, Texas, surrounded by his wife and four daughters. He was born the eldest of seven brothers in Cranfills Gap, Texas, on November 17, 1933, to parents Albert and Flora Meissner, and baptized on December 24, 1933.

Alvin was a graduate of Concordia College in Austin, TX, and subsequently graduated from Concordia Seminary in St Louis, Missouri, in June of 1958. He received a divine call from the Holy Spirit to serve as missionary in Nigeria for the first five years of his ministry, after which time he was called by Him to serve as pastor over the next 35 years at the following Lutheran congregations: Good Shepherd in Azle, Texas; Zion in Anderson, Texas; Prince of Peace in Belton, Texas; St. Paul in Aleman, Texas.

Alvin was preceded in death by brothers Willie, Walter, Herbert, Clarence, and Harold Meissner.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy; Daughter Marcy (Ken), children Kelsey (Kyle) and son Trevor, Jake; Daughter Becky (Tom), children Josh, Benjamin (Emily) and son Tyler, Heidi (Joe), Andrew, Noah; Daughter Mimi (Chris), children Hannah, Daniel; Daughter Rachel (Michael), children Luke, Gabe. He is also survived by sister-in-law Shirley Meissner (Harold), and brother Robert Meissner.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4010 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the following: Jesus Is Lord Mission (JILM), Walburg, Texas; Concordia High School, Pflugerville, Texas; Concordia University, Austin, Texas.
