He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War with the 45th Div. as a gunner on a half track. After the Army, he entered the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio, in 1957. Joe had a wide circle of friends and was involved in various organizations, especially with Spirit of '45 where he was a founding member. He shared his wisdom, always looking forward each semester to talking to students at SJSU. Joe also enjoyed attending Oakland Athletics games.
