Andrew Christopher Shawhart, 92, of Arthur City passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery at Arthur City. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Andrew was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Direct to Ethel Irene Wells Shawhart and James “Jim” Andrew Shawhart. Much of his youth was spent in the Cato area. He resided in Paris for much of his adult life. The last 27 years he resided in Arthur City. Andrew married the love of his life, Vera Inez Van Deaver, on July 3, 1944. Except for the time he was stationed at Pearl Harbor during World War II, they were inseparable from their first date and were happily married for 72 years.

He worked at Merico Packaging and retired from Rock Tenn in Greenville. He loved the outdoors and working in the garden.

Andrew attended Immanuel Baptist Church for a number of years before moving to East Paris Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Inez; daughter, Sharon Crawford and husband Gary of Paris; son, Stanley Shawhart and wife Darla of Arthur City, grandchildren, Sheri Starkey of Ft. Worth, Sheila Lobert & husband Thomas of Houston, Heath Shawhart of Poleton, NC, Trista Nichols & husband Matt of Arthur City; great grandchildren, Sarah Starkey, Railynn and Kyra Nichols, and Tommy Lobert along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers; Woodrow, Buford, Lonnie, Arlie, and Billie; one sister, Fay Beach; and a great granddaughter, Karson Nichols.

Casket bearers will be: Stanley Shawhart, Matt Nichols, Tim Sullivan, Rickey Grub, Chad Ward and Jim Jones.
