Southbury, CT - Andrew J Scribe Jr, Age 85 previously from Monroe CT, passed away on July 2, 2017 in his home in Southbury, CT. Over the past week he was surrounded by his extended family in an almost ritualistic Vacation atmosphere which was something he looked forward to every summer. Each year the family enjoyed a weeklong summer trip to the beach, strengthening their love and bond with one another.
Andy was born in Homer City, PA in 1931 to Minnie and Andrew Scribe. He excelled in school and even at 5'6" tall he was one of the better basketball players at the small school. He joined the Navy at age 17 after graduating from high school; serving during the Korean conflict. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he attended Penn State University graduating with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. Several months following his graduation from College he married his sweetheart Janet Rigatti from DuBois, PA and traveled through New England to their first home in Springfield, MA where he joined Westinghouse as an accountant. Over the next three years he moved to Columbus, Ohio and then settled in Monroe, CT where he worked for Bryant Electric; a division of Westinghouse. In 1990 Westinghouse recognized him as a cornerstone of their operation. He continued his career at Hubble Electric as the Manager of Accounting and retired 1996.
Andy will be remembered by family and friends as a person who always put his family first. You could always find Andy and Janet attending their children and grandchildren's concerts, sporting events and school activities. Annual family trips to the beach were treasured by everyone and it wasn't uncommon for the grandkids to ask: "So where are we going next year?" before they even returned home from the current adventure.
Andy is survived by his wife Janet Scribe (Rigatti) of 59 years and their three children: Christine Wesche and her husband Kevin of Oxford, CT, Mark Scribe and his wife Karen of Southbury, CT and Sandie Lavoy and her husband Tim of Portland, CT. 7 grandchildren: Andrea Sawicki, Matthew Scribe, Brandon Wesche, Kimberly Valenti, Alana Piccirillo, Raymond and Nathan Lavoy as well as 6 Great-Grandchildren.
Andy's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Regional Hospice and Home Care of Danbury and BrightStar Care of Fairfield. Their compassion and tenderness shown to Andy was something that will never be forgotten and will be cherished always.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 06, 2017 @ 10:00 am at St Jude Roman Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Tpke., Monroe, CT 06468.
