Anita May Litwin, 95, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 23, 2017. She was the beloved widow of Joseph Litwin. Anita was born on March 16, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph and Almonza Gobeille.
Anita was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Rose Church; she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends, and loved to travel with her husband and later with her twin sister driving to Florida every year to spend 3 months. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was actively involved with her family. She will be remembered for her kind & nurturing spirit who was a caregiver for many. She was a fighter, overcoming cancer 10 years ago, and never gave up hope when it returned 3 years ago. Anita led an active lifestyle up until this past March. She leaves a legacy of a life well-lived and well-loved.
Anita will be dearly missed by her son Edward Litwin and his wife Colleen of Manchester, daughter Joanne Bard and her husband Peter of Milford, MA., 5 grandchildren; Lindsay, Laura and Brian Litwin, Mindy Gervais and Melanie Blair, 7 great grandchildren, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Anita is predeceased by her twin sister Annette Gorman and brother Donald Gobeille.

A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 8:30-9:30am at the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford.
