Annette Y. (LeBlanc) Richard, 81, of Acushnet passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 7, 2016 in her home. She was the loving wife of the late Edmond Richard.

Born in Acushnet, a daughter of the late Raymond and Annette (Rivet) LeBlanc she was a lifelong town resident. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Mrs. Richard attended Acushnet Schools and Sacred Heart Academy before going to Bridgewater State. She was a teacher in the New Bedford Schools for 34 years and she also worked as a 911 dispatcher and clerk for the Acushnet Police Department for 27 years.

Annette's character and presence was larger than life. She was a wonderful woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Annette and her husband were avid campers and she loved going out and being with her loving family. Her family worked as a team to take her out to all the beaches around the area so she could soak up the sun. In short, Annette loved having fun.

Annette and her husband, Ed, loved their community. They came up with a jaw dropping way to show their affection. Every year at Halloween and Christmas they decorated their house to the extreme. There were zombies walking through the yard and Santa "Ed" taking pictures with all the good little boys and girls. Their giving legacy will live on in the memories of their family and beloved community. Annette worked diligently to put together little bags of goodies for all the children. If that wasn't enough, they raised money during these epic events and donated the proceeds to the Shriners.

She is survived by her daughters, Bernice Herbert and her husband John of New Bedford, Dorine Margeson and Mary-Ellen Fagan of Mattapoisett, Annette Edge of Acushnet and Carolyn Richard of Acushnet; a brother, Raymond LeBlanc, Jr. of Acushnet; a sister, Doris Sullivan and her husband Donald of Fairhaven; grandchildren, Jennifer Majette and her husband Douglas, Tiffany Herbert and her fiancé Jason Ellis, Sandra Edge and her fiancé, Jeremy Brooks, and Kimberly Edge; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dogs Sophie & Sydney. She was the mother-in-law of the late Russell Edge.

Her funeral will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 8 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME of MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a funeral mass at 9 am in St. Mary's Church, Main St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 4-8 pm.
