Our beloved friend, kinswoman, mother and grandmother Annie (Ann) Beatrice Catchin, born January 22, 1930, went home to spend eternity with the Lord on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the age of 86. Ann was born to Willanna and Knox Green. She spent her childhood in Henning, Tennessee. Willanna passed away when Ann was fourteen years old. Her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Jones raised her. As a young woman, Ann met and married Charles Sheets. Two daughters were born to their union.

Active, adventurous and lovely are a few words that described Ann's personality. "Annie B" was a maverick too. She was a skillful driver, a photographer who developed her own film, and she was brilliant (she could solve a New York Times crossword puzzle in thirty minutes). She was also very enterprising. At one time she supplemented the family income by baking and selling pies from home.

During the great migration of the 1940's she relocated to Chicago, Illinois for greater economic opportunities. It was there she met and fell in love with a young man, Robert Scarbrough. They wed. Two daughters and four sons were born to their union. She loved her children; she adored her grandchildren. She later married George Catchin.

Ann continued her career in Chicago, Illinois and served for many years at the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board until retirement. After retirement, she was a devoted wife to her husband George and a committed grandmother. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting her adult children in the states of Washington, California, Florida, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Wisconsin and Virginia.

In 2004, Ann relocated from Chicago and spent several years living with her adult children in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Saginaw, Michigan and most recently in Richmond, Virginia. Ann leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Bessie Payton, Willie Mae Jefferson and Magnolia Mitchell, daughters, Linda Franklin, Madeline Sheets and Yvonne Mickens, sons, Robert (Marilee) Scarbrough, David (Linda Faye) Scarbrough, Derek (Lavorn) Scarbrough and Michael (Annette) Scarbrough. Ann's descendants include over sixty grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband George Catchin, her sisters Queen Esther Hall and Katie McCall, her brothers, Bluchie, Charles, Ersley (Bob) and Knox (Chunk) and her daughter Vanessa Maria Guerrero.
