Anthony "Tony" Edwin Ott, 72, of Davenport, IA passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the VA Hospice, Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society "Hope Lodge" or VA Iowa City Voluntary Services. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Tony was born July 31, 1945 in Davenport, IA to Wayne Frederick and Ada Caroline (Wendland) Ott. Following his graduation from Davenport Central High School in 1963 he served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967. He proudly served as a Radio Teletype Operator with First Calvary Division, Air Mobile Unit in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. Tony was married to Virginia Kay Levetzow on July 5, 1980 in Davenport, IA. They celebrated life together for 37 years.
Tony worked for Taylor Insulation and retired from Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local #81. He also worked after retirement as a maintenance worker for Lake Canyada Mobile Home Park for five years.
Tony especially enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. He liked to grill out, even in the winter. Tony always made sure the birds and squirrels in his yard were fed. He had a passion for working on cars, western movies, books and his daily crossword puzzle.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Kay Ott, Davenport; sister, Julie Ann (Jim) Donnelly, Davenport; daughters, Jennifer Lynn (Ken) Matic, Pueblo, CO and Susanne Elaine (Guy) Ford, Columbia, MO and step-daughter, Kimberly Kay Anderson, Nevada, IA.
In addition to his parents Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Linda May Schmidt and his son, Christopher "Chrys"Barton Ott. May they rest in peace.
Tony will always be remembered by his grandchildren Phoenix Chrystopher Anthony Ott, Molly Alexandria Matic, Gage Logan Ford, Chase Anthony Ford, Shelby Kay (Zack) Perrin and Nora Elaine Anderson, along with his nieces and nephews and other living relatives.
