Antonio Baptista Silva
6/11/1940 to 5/29/2017

Survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother, 3 children and 4 grandchildren

On Memorial Day the world lost an incredible man, Antonio Baptista Silva. He finally succumbed to his battle against Lewy Body dementia at 11:05 am on the morning of May 29, 2017. His day of passing is especially fitting since he devoted 28 ½ years of his life to serving the country he loved as a brave US Marine, during which he completed 3 tours in Vietnam, cleared mine fields, worked on nuclear weapons, ran an equipment maintenance platoon and even served as a military police officer (MP). Not only did he love the United States, but he was also passionate about his home country of Portugal which he left at a young age of 13. He came to this country not speaking a word of English and made his way up the ranks of the military, retiring as a Major. He was a wonderful father who taught his children to be honest, have a strong work ethic, and to never give up. He had a tremendous love for animals of all kinds and passed this on to his children. He deeply loved his family and did everything he could to protect them and provide for them. His children are incredibly proud of him and all his accomplishments and for being the person he was. He will be missed so very much. Even during his darkest hours over these past two years, his huge personality and humor always shined through. Everyone who cared for him grew to love him and will also miss his presence. His family have huge holes in their hearts right now and can't imagine living without him. We love you dad and will hold our special memories of you close to our hearts for as long as we shall live.
