Archie Lee Cook, 78, of Charleston, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at home.



He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Cook Sr. and Rachael (Rose) Cook.



He is survived by his wife, Sandra Jo Cook; daughter, Deborah Rogers of Hurricane; son, Brian (Lisa) Cook of Palm City, Florida; brothers, Frank Jr. (Sue) Cook, Jesse (Norma) Cook, Larry Cook; sister, Joyce Cook (Danny) Miller, all of Charleston; grandchildren, Jordan Rogers of Fairmont, and Alexis, Caleb and Camden Cook of Palm City; brother-in-law, Steve Zakaski of Dunbar; and nephews and nieces.



Archie retired from Hobet Mining and previously worked at Patriot Coal and Cedar Coal. He was a member of the UMWA. As a Boy Scout himself, he enjoyed and encouraged his grandson, Jordan, to obtain the highest honor of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed spending time with his 3 grandchildren who came to WV to visit for the summer. He loved spending time outdoors, hiking, fishing, camping, working on antique engines and attending engine shows in various states. In his younger years, he loved racing stock cars.



A memorial service will be held Monday, May 8, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden.
