Arlene Stinnett Neas, 85, of Concord passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of her late first husband, Angus "Dick" G. Thompson, Sr. and her late second husband, Herbert Lionel Neas. Born October 27, 1931, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Eldridge Loving Stinnett and the late Blanche Mays Stinnett.

Arlene was passionate about her family and her religion. She was a retired child care giver as well as formerly worked for Virginia Sportswear and the old hosiery mill. She was also passionate about her religion and was an elder at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Rustburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Arlene was preceded in death by two children, Jerry Neas and Ann Marston; two siblings, Roger Stinnett and Annie Campbell; and two brothers-in-law, Bradley Campbell and John Fuqua.

Arlene is survived by seven children, Gray Thompson, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Gladys, Mark Thompson and wife Rita Faye of Jetersville, Lynn Mellott of Evington, Robin Thompson of Concord, Lonnie Neas, Jr. of Lynchburg, Robert Neas and wife Ellen of Lynch Station and William Neas and wife Sharon of Spout Springs; four siblings, Melvin Stinnett and wife Thelma of Lynchburg, Ralph Stinnett and wife Charlotte of Monroe, Margaret Francis and husband Lewis of Monroe and Lucy Fuqua of Monroe; one sister-in-law, Agnes Stinnett of Powhattan; one grandson, Donovan Thompson of Concord; numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Richard Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Amherst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
