Arthur Gustaf “Art” Larson, 85, of Gilcrest, CO, beloved great grandfather, grandfather, husband, father and uncle die peacefully at his home with family at his side. He was born April 11, 1922 in Saguache, CO to Emil and Betty (Laugerblad) Larson. He moved with his family to rural Weld County when he was four. Arthur lived in Weld County for the rest of his life. He attended grade school at Beebe Draw and Auburn. Arthur proudly served and with honor in the U. S. Army from November 23, 1942 to November 23, 1945 and fought in the European campaign. On November 17, 1946, he married Juanita King of rural Pierce, CO in Greeley and would have celebrated 61 years this November. Mr. Larson loved baseball, roses, farming, cattle and driving trucks. Art worked for the Greeley elevator for three years. In 1949, he went to work driving truck for Lawson truck lines. He worked for Lawson until it was sold to Lee Freight in 1959. Art stayed at Lee Freight until a back injury forced him to leave the truck line in 1972. He owned his own dairy from 1972-75. He bought his own milk truck in 1973 and delivered milk to the Carnation plant in Johnstown until the plant closed. In 1979, Art drove a semi for MEDA, now Dairy Farmers of America, until his retirement. Arthur cherished many friends that he made during his distinguished and enjoyable career as a truck driver. He was a past member of the VFW Post #2121 and Farmers Union. Art is survived by his wife, Juanita Larson of Gilcrest, daughters, Nancy Slater Walker and husband Ed of Illinois, Linda and husband, Harold Edstrom of Greeley and Alice and husband Ron Richardson of Greeley, number nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Steven, infant great granddaughter, Athena Slater, two sisters and their husbands, and two brothers and their wives. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Allnutt Funeral Service/Macy Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2007 at the Macy Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Meorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gilcrest FFA in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.
