Jack Schmitzer was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved his family to Orlando, FL in 1952. He and his wife Mildred were owners of Schmitzer's Meat Center, providing a variety of portion-controlled cuts of meat and sausages to local restaurants. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Tunis in the Army-Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1079, and the National Taxidermy Association. Being an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, and fishing as well as his hobby of taxidermy and he was most proud of his Trophy Room where he displayed his many animal mounts and enjoyed giving tours. He loved the camaraderie of hunting excursions to Colorado and Canada as well as his local hunting camp K-6 at the Deseret Ranch and he was happiest in a tree stand or driving his jeep through the woods checking out the local game. Jack and his wife Mildred were married for 70 years and were regulars on the dance floor most Friday nights at the Elks Club. He had a winning smile and a positive attitude throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Norma Ackert of Orlando, his son, Bill Schmitzer of Cookeville, TN, his grandchildren, Michelle, Jamie, Chad and Jennifer, and five great-grandchildren.

His immediate family will celebrate his life in a private ceremony.
