Audrey L. (Wolf) Roman, 92, was born on November 5, 1928 in Prophetstown, Illinois. She passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, in Payson, Arizona.

Audrey graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1946. She met the love of her life, Paul Roman, upon his return from WWII. They were married on September 12, 1948 and were married for 61 years. They lived in Peoria, IL while Paul attended Bradley University. Later they moved to Cleveland, OH and then Park Ridge, IL during which time Audrey was employed as a bookkeeper. After 13 years of marriage, Audrey and Paul were blessed with their only child, Ellen. Audrey then dedicated her life to being a devoted wife and loving mother and beloved Nana. The family then moved to St. Charles, IL where Audrey and Paul enjoyed many great friends and wonderful years in the home they built there. Audrey and Paul were blessed with two grandchildren in 1993 and 1996, Lindsey and Bradley who were the joy of their lives. In 1998 Audrey and Paul moved to West Des Moines, IA to be closer to their family. For 20 years Audrey and Paul loved splitting their time between their Midwest home and their condo in Florida, where they enjoyed their winter retreats with many great friends and family. In April 2019, Audrey moved to Payson AZ along with Ellen and son-in-law Mike where she took great delight living in the mountains while enjoying frequent encounters with the many herds of Elk that wander throughout the area. After many years of living with Alzheimer's and asking, "where is my Paul?", she is finally reunited with him in heavenly peace. Here is a poem that we found that she wanted us to share for comfort in her passing:

Do not grieve for me, for now I am free
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took his hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, or work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys;
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I have savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief;
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee,
For God wanted me now - He set me free.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who passed away in 2009 and a brother Truman Sibley. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Mike) Kramer; grandchildren Lindsey and Bradley Kramer and sisters: Arvilla (Glen) Springman, Alice (Bill) Young, Gloria Grams, Camella (Keith) Alexander, Sheila Price and Janie Cassidy; brother, Gary (Carol) Sibley and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church Prophetstown, Illinois. The family will receive friends, at the church, from 10-11 a.m., Monday, December 21 (one hour prior to the service). Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.
