Austin Aaron O'Handlen, age 6, of Topeka passed away May 29, 2011 at Children's Mercy Hospital. Austin was born January 21, 2005, to Cherie O'Handlen and Steven Patterson. Austin was a loving child who liked to go shopping at Wal-Mart, and watch Dora the Explorer, Cops, Dog the Bounty Hunter, and Walker Texas Ranger. Survivors include his mother and father, sisters Cheyenne and Ashley O'Handlen, grandparents, Eve and Rodney Patterson, Esther O'Handlen, and great-grandma Gladys O'Handlen. The family would like to say a special thank you to Austin's friends at Parkdale Preschool and Lynn Elementary School, nurses Dana Kelly and Cyndi Spinelli, and all of the staff at Children's Mercy Hospital for all of their wonderful care. Austin will lie in state on Thursday June 2nd from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home and visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. where family will greet guests. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Friday June 3rd at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
