Avalon Word Blaine Still, 89 of Nacogdoches, Texas, entered Heaven's gate on September 5, 2017, at 12:01 a.m. in Lufkin, Texas.

She was born in Dallas, Texas, to Robert A. Blaine, Jr. and Lucy (Word) Blaine on March 22, 1928. Avalon spent many of her younger years growing up between Dallas, Texas, and San Jose, California, before moving to Nacogdoches in 1944. She married Billy Joe Still on January 15, 1945. Avalon had a tremendous love for horses and had a natural talent, for china painting on ceramics and most crafts. She was a homemaker most of her married life, while enjoying her horses and family.

Mrs. Still is survived by a son, Billy M. Still and wife Julie of Lenexa, Kansas; two daughters, Linda Still of Olathe, Kansas, and Cynthia Farr and husband Wyman of Lufkin, Texas; one brother, Al Blaine and wife Charlotte; and one sister, Deborah Blaine Kee. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. Blaine Jr. and Mary Lucy Blaine; husband of 37 years, Billy Joe Still; a beloved son, Robert Dudley Still; a sister, Patricia Word Phillips; and her parents-in-law, Joe Mack Still and Lucille Still.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7, 2015, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Chapel in Nacogdoches, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park, Nacogdoches, Texas.
