Barbara Ann Louise Huff Holmes, loving wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away on Monday December 11, 2017 at the age of 77.
On October 14, 1958, Barbara married Norris Dean Holmes in Roswell New Mexico. They raised three children, who gave them seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Barbara is survived by son Monty and wife Darla of Odessa, TX, two daughters, Cindi Rodgers of Odessa, TX, and Connie Gibson and husband Sid of McKinney, TX. She is also survived by sister Yvonne Oliver and husband Don of Denver, Co. and brother William C. Huff of Oklahoma City, Ok. Barbara had seven grandchildren: Dayla Oviedo and husband Robert, Brittany Hardy and husband Michael, Shawn Crawford and wife Heather, Jeremy Crawford and wife Kendra, Brandon Gibson and wife Kayla, Jordan Gibson and wife Jaime, and Colby Gibson.
Barbara was born in Clyde, TX at home on the family dairy farm on September 27, 1940. She was the third generation to share the September 27th birthday. Her paternal grandmother and her father shared the same birth date. When Barbara got older her parents bought local stores in Rising Star, Hart Camp, and Spade, TX. She shared many wonderful stories about growing up in rural communities, and working in the stores as a young girl.
Barbara enjoyed traveling all across the country, motor homing, and accompanying Norris on motor cycle trips. For many years she was actively involved in the Christian Motorcyclists Association. They purchased property at Lake Brownwood and she loved feeding the deer, bird watching, and relaxing by the water.
She was an avid crafter. There was hardly a craft she didn't delve into. She loved ceramics, toll painting, gold leafing, china painting, and beading. She made and gave away many bead necklaces and bracelets.
Barbara and Norris were happily married for 59 years. They lived in Florida, Tennessee, California, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Canada, and lastly Odessa the last 40 year's. Barbara took car of Norris the last 10 years of their marriage as he struggled with Alzheimer's disease.
