Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Barbara A. Scott passed away surrounded by family on October 10, 2017. She was born in Cincinnati, OH in April 1932 and grew up across the river in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. She was the only child of Albert and Helen Grapes. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati and was a 2nd grade teacher for several years. It was while attending the University of Colorado for Continuing Education that she met the love of her life, Winston Scott (Scotty). After corresponding long distance over the next year, they were married in June 1959 in Ft Thomas. She then moved to Boulder where she lived the rest of her life.

Barbara survived a bike accident when she was 7 years old. She said she owed her life to a veterinarian who happened to be nearby and helped her to start breathing again.

Barbara had a beautiful singing voice and her family remembers many times when total strangers turned around and complemented her after hearing her sing. She was a soloist at her church in Ft Thomas and participated as a member of a choir singing the Messiah.

Barbara devoted her life to being a wonderful mother to her four daughters, Cherie, Karen, Kathy and Christy and a supporting wife to her husband Scotty. She was always available to drive her daughters to their numerous activities or to lend a listening ear or shoulder to cry on (and with four daughters...). She was a terrific cook and her fried chicken, lasagna and incredible desserts and Christmas cookies/candy were legendary. She was also very devoted to helping support Scotty in taking the entire family into the backcountry of Alaska every other summer for 6 weeks, staying at Forest Service Cabins.

Once her daughters were grown, she took on additional activities and was the Alzheimer's chair for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. She also loved researching and making donations to various charities around the country. She and her husband Scotty enjoyed their retirement by traveling to Ham Radio Shows around the country. They also made more elaborate trips to Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Hawaii, all places that they had been unable to visit while raising a family. Most of all she took on the role of being a wonderful grandmother to all her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her husband Winston W Scott, Jr and her daughters Cheryl Craig, Karen Womack and Kathryn Krause. She also has a grandson Taylor Lindsey and five grandaughters, Katrina Proctor, Miranda Cass, Karissa Bayliss, and Lexi and Morgan Krause. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Helen Grapes and her daughter Christine Lindsey.

A celebration of her life will be held at Valmont Community Presbyterian Church, 3262 61st St, Boulder, CO on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00PM.

Donations in her honor may be made to either the Diabetes or Alzheimer's Associations
