Barbara Ann Sable, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born on October 13, 1934 in Pohick, Virginia. Barbara was a civil servant for 30 years retiring from the Defense Logistics Agency in 1997. After retirement, she spent time actively engaged in the Mount Vernon community, swimming and connecting with friends and family. Barbara also enjoyed watching her Washington Redskins and Nationals play; she was an avid fan.

Left to honor Barbara and remember her love are Barbara's five children: Michael (Virginia) Sable, David (Gail) Sable, Carolyn (Michael) McCrane, Mark (Joan) Sable, and Luke (Denise) Sable; Carolyn O'Leary Sable; seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a loving brother, Orange Poe Judd Jr.; Patricia Judd; Jackie Hunt Sable; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Orange Poe Judd Sr. and Katherine Fairbanks Judd, her brother Alfred Judd; her husband of 40 years John Paul Sable Sr. and her sons John Paul Sable Jr. and Matthew Thomas Sable.

Barbara will be remembered as a kind, gentle and giving woman. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who spent numerous hours watching her children and grandchildren play endless games of football, baseball, field hockey, soccer, basketball, softball and compete in gymnastics, cheer, dance, and singing. Her family was most important to her and she loved unconditionally each and every one of them.

Family and friends whose lives Barbara touched are invited to a visitation at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S Washington St, Alexandria, VA on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10:30 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy, Alexandria, VA. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA.
