Barbara Frances (Roberts) Scarborough of Nacogdoches passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Nacogdoches at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 22 days. She was born March 13, 1928, in Lufkin to parents Lawrence L. and Clarice M. (Neel) Roberts.

Barbara spent her life volunteering and helping others. She volunteered at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Pink Ladies of Nacogdoches and a Cub Scout Leader. She also taught the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included bird watching and reading. She always kept busy. She was very friendly, honest, and straight-forward. You constantly knew you where you stood with her. She earned your respect, and you would benefit from paying attention to her. Barbara was loved by all and will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mrs. Scarborough was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Junge Scarborough; and brother, Robert Allen Roberts.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Roe of Greer, South Carolina; son, Dennis Scarborough of Evanston, Wyoming; son, Kerry Scarborough of Nacogdoches; sister, Betty Carter of Houston; six grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, at Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches with Bro. Sonny Scarborough and Bro. Gerald Roe officiating.

Pallbearers will be Michael Moore, Andy Moore, Larry Carter, Trey Scarborough, John Thomas, Sr., and Roy Henson.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 304 N. Raguet, Suite C, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
