Barbara Laura White, beloved wife of the late John R. White, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2019 in hospice at Masonicare with family by her side after courageously battling Alzheimer's disease.

Born in Augusta, ME in 1931, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Edith (Hemingway) Ferris. She graduated from Whitman Hanson High School in 1948 and worked as the assistant town clerk for Woodbridge, CT during the 70's and 80's. Her retirement years were spent surrounded by friends and family and enjoying her favorite hobbies: baking, knitting, and traveling. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, and always made friends wherever she lived, whether in Hanson, MA; Woodbridge, CT; Derby, CT; New Smyrna Beach, FL; Branford, CT; or Masonicare in Wallingford, CT.

Barbara was blessed to be married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life for 55 years and enjoyed loving relationships with her six children, Linda Edwards of Milford, CT; Joseph (Anne) White of Bedford, NH; Susan Montgomery of Hamden, CT; Patricia (John) Kupper of Wethersfield, CT; Nancy (Joseph) Stamp of Tampa, FL; and Thomas (Michele) White of Branford, CT. She was affectionately called "B" by her husband and children and "Nana" by her 12 grandchildren. She was adored and will be missed by her grandkids, Katie Montgomery (Christian Nachtrieb), Joseph (Ali) White, Meghan (Matthew) Fornataro, Kevin (Abby) White, Jaclyn (Sean) Cattanach, Daniel Kupper, Emily (Andrew) Conlan, Joseph (Christiane) Stamp, Michael Stamp, Rachel White, Matthew White, and Michael White—and her nine adorable great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three siblings whom she loved dearly, her sister Shirley (Cameron) McClellan and two brothers, William (Carol) Ferris and Richard (Margaret) Ferris. She was predeceased by her sister Katherine (David) Dorn and two brothers, Roy (Glenna) Ferris and Ray (Roberta) Ferris.

The family wants to thank the many nurses and caregivers for their care and compassion, including the Adler's Center at Yale New Haven Hospital; The Orchard House of Branford, CT; Masonicare of Wallingford, CT and Hospice.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday December 6th, 10am at Saint Mary Church of St. John Bosco Parish, 731 Main St, Branford, CT 06405. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
