Beatrice (Gonsalves) Fernandes of Fairhaven, MA, 104 years of age, passed to Our Lord peacefully surrounded by family on March 22, 2016 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.

Beatrice was born in New Bedford on September 19, 1911, the daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie S. (Fernandes) Gonsalves. Beatrice was a devout Catholic whose family and faith were the foundation of all that was truly important to her. She was a proud member of the Ladies' Garment Workers' Union for many years in the New Bedford area. Beatrice's greatest success was the raising of three wonderful, lovely and doting children. She enjoyed watching her family grow while celebrating each milestone and achievement with tremendous pride and gratefulness. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Beatrice was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Fernandes. She is survived by her daughters, Vivian M. Lewis and Janice L. Fernandes of Fairhaven , son, Anthony D. Fernandes and his wife, Christel of Frankenthal, Germany, granddaughters Heidi J. Lewis of Philadelphia, PA and Regina Kelly and her husband Paul of Andover, MA and grandson Peter Fernandes and his wife Deborah of Austin, TX, and great-grandchildren James, Kristina, and Michael Kelly of Andover, MA and Christopher and Alexander Fernandes of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her Sister-In-Law, Virginia Babbitt of Middlebury , CT and was the aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 74 Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, March 28th and at 10 AM on March 29th at Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA.
