Beatrice Hunter Carson, 106, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at The Carrington. She was the loving wife of the late Volney Howard Carson, Sr.

She was born in Louisa County on January 7, 1911 and she was the daughter of the late Morris Soule Hunter and the late Hattie Lee Hunter. Beatrice was a member of First Baptist Church in Lynchburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Grayson Hunter and Frank Hunter, Sr.; four sisters, Hattie Carmichael, Bessie Dowdy, Lillian Smoot, and Estelle Carson; and a daughter-in-law, Betty F. Carson.

Beatrice is survived by five sons, Dr. Morris Emmett Carson of Richmond, Volney Howard Carson and wife Elsie of CA, Herbert R. Carson and wife Rachel of Madison Heights; Herman E. Carson and wife Cathy of Madison Heights, and James E. Carson of Pleasant View; one daughter, Virginia C. Harvey and husband Jerry of Spout Spring; two sisters, Grace Purvis and Rosabelle Cash both of Madison Heights; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; a numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family would like to thank The Carrington staff for providing loving care to Beatrice for many years.

Per her request, there will be no viewing or visitation.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Fort Hill Memorial Park, with Rev. Alton Peters officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends at her son's, Herman Carson, residence, 154 Camden Dr., Madison Heights, VA 24572.
