Benjamin "Butch" Theodore Villeponteaux, 74, of Wando, South Carolina, died Friday, November 3, 2017. His funeral service will be held at the graveside on Monday, November 6, 2017, in St. Thomas and St. Denis Churchyard (Brick Church), 1513 Cainhoy Road at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Butch was born October 23, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Benjamin Daniel Villeponteaux and the late Rosemary O'Neale Villeponteaux. He worked as a machinist with Detyens Shipyard for 30 years. He loved to fish, hunt, sing country songs and spend time with his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Wendy Thurlow (Daryl) of Huger, SC and Tammy Stockman (Chris) of Mount Pleasant, SC; son, Benjamin T. Villeponteaux of Huger, SC; four grandsons, Hunter Thurlow, Dylan Stockman, Travis Villeponteaux and Conner Mitchum; two granddaughters, Ashley Thurlow and Madison Stockman; two brothers, Richard D. Villeponteaux of Wando, SC and Kenneth E. Villeponteaux of Huger, SC; two sisters, Joyce V. Ward of Georgetown, SC and Barbara Jansen of Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael W. Villeponteaux.
