Benjamin T. "Ben" Fleck, Sr., 91, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his home near West Point, TX. Ben was born September 18, 1925 to Agnes (Helton) and Henry Fleck in Smithville.

Ben was a Supervisor over bridge building during his 20+ year career at Brown and Root in Houston and was instrumental in the construction of many large transit structures of the city and its surrounding area. Ben was a 25 year + active member of J. W. Nixon Lodge #421 AF & AM, the Smithville American Legion and VFW. After retirement Ben enjoyed spending time in his garden and with the cattle on his ranch. He really loved teaching his grandchildren to fish and to care for the land and livestock.

Ben is survived by his son, Benjamin T. Fleck, Jr. (Carolyn); daughter, Carol Pavlicek (Larry); brothers, Marcus Fleck (Geraldine), and Jerry Fleck (Helen); 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bridie, six months shy of their 70th wedding anniversary; son, Larry; daughter, Connie; grandson, Christopher Price; as well as a sister and 3 brothers.

Serving as pallbearers are Freddie Scallan, Ben Fleck III, Steven Scallan, Jason Fleck, David Scallan, Casey Pavlicek, Chad Pavlicek, Cody Pavlicek, and honorary pallbearers, Stacy Williams and Carol Marie Scallan.

Funeral services are Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home, Smithville. Ben will be returned to the side of the love of his life, Bridie, at Byler Cemetery in West Point, Texas.
