Bennie Jean Buckner, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in Waco. Funeral services will be Friday, July 22, 10:00 a.m., Cole Funeral Home, McGregor. Interment will follow in Crawford Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 6:00-8:00 p.m., Cole Funeral Home.

Bennie was born on March 21, 1927 to Benjamin Franklin and Vieda Elvie Carden Forman, in Munday, Texas. She graduated from Hobbs High School, Hobbs, New Mexico, in 1945. Bennie attended New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico, and was a member of the First Christian Church there. She married P.W. "Cotton" Buckner on August 31, 1946, and they were married for 69 years. Bennie retired from Wolf Manufacturing in 1993. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, and was a member of the Firemen's Auxiliary in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Mrs. Buckner was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy Forman, Marvin "Jim" Forman; and sisters, Vieda Medlinger and Margaret King.

Bennie leaves behind her husband; sons, Jim Buckner and wife, Linda of Waco, Earnie and Wife, Dianna, of Speegleville; sister, Bernice Hoye and husband, Charles, of Hobbs, New Mexico; grandchildren, Jim Kesterson and wife, Janet, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Curtis Buckner and wife, Liz, of Kentucky, Ryan James and husband, John Paul, of Oxnard, California, and David Anderson, of Huntington Beach, California; and five great-grandchildren.
