Bernice Lillian Stallings, age 76, daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Johnson, was born on May 15, 1935, in Hockessin, Delaware. She departed this life at the age of 76 on Sunday, March 11, 2012, while in Wilmington Hospital. She received her early education at the 107 Colored School, in Hockessin, DE, and graduated from Howard High School, class of 1953. While attending Wilmington College, she obtained certification in Early Childhood Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles H. Johnson, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband, Eugene Edward Stallings; loving children, Deborah L. Hardy (Rick), Diane M. Brittingham (Robert), Denice C. Dupree & Gail Stallings-Minor; grandchildren, Sonji Williams, Robert Brittingham, Aaliyah DuPree, Aaron DuPree, and Walley Minor; siblings, Vienna Washington and twin sister, Berna Threadgill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends. Family and friends may attend her viewing on Tuesday, March 20th from 10:00-11:00 am, at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Parkway, New Castle, Delaware 19720, followed by funeral services in the Chapel at 11:00 am, with interment immediately after the service.
