Betty A. Bohanan, 93, of West Peoria, formerly of Glasford, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Heddington Oaks.
Born May 20, 1923 in East Peoria, Illinois to Roy O. and Anne (Lichtsinn) Martin; she married Grant Bohanan on August 1, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 2006.
Also preceding in death are her daughter, Paula Bohanan and son-in-law, Red Lane.
Surviving are her children, Merriann Lane of Mapleton, Grant "Butch" Bohanan of Elgin, IL, Billie (Richard) White of Havana, and Marc Bohanan of Glasford; eleven grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren and was known as "Grandma Boh" to everyone. She was very active with her children's activities when they were young and also hosted neighborhood children after school when they needed somewhere to go.
Betty served as a personal aid for many people in the Glasford area over the years.
She was a past President and 69 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Glasford.
She was a longtime member of the Glasford Baptist Church.
She had also attended the Glasford United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 22, 2016 with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ethan Carnes will officiate. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford.
Memorials are suggested to the Glasford United Methodist Church or to the American Legion Auxiliary in Glasford.
