Betty Holzer, 94, of Rock Island passed away Monday, February 9, 2014 at her home in Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island.

Betty was born June 14, 1920, the daughter of Alva Wilson and Edith (Sharar) Hayes. She was united in marriage to Jack E. Holzer on May 9, 1952 in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death in 1995.

Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was an office clerk at the Rock Island Railroad for 29 years. She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, past member of: R.I. Women's Club, YWCA, Pinnacle Country Club, and the Early Birds bowling league. Betty enjoyed wildlife and animals of any kind. She also enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Survivors (and spouses) include step-children, Jack (Judy) Holzer, Jr., Matherville, IL, Steve (Yelena) Holzer, FL; many nieces & nephews; & special friends, Marie Schadel and Janet Chapman.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, daughter, Sandra L. Day, step-daughter, Peggy Cates, two sisters, & five brothers.
