Obituary for:
Betty J. Smith
Age: 77

Betty J. Smith, 77 of Sprucevale Road, Calcutta, died in the Emergency Room at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Empire, Ohio on November 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Earl and Beulah (Headley) Williams, Sr. She lived her entire life in this area and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Her husband, William J. Smith, Sr. survives her at home. They were married on February 14, 1949.

One son: William J. Smith, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Calcutta, OH; three daughters: Kathy S. Walters and her companion George Veon of Columbiana, OH, Cindy Curran of Calcutta, OH and Debbie Barrett and her husband Robert of Calcutta, OH; one sister: Thelma Peterson of East Liverpool, OH; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren survive her.

Besides her parents, four brothers preceded her in death.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Paul Sturm of the Calcutta Christian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in the United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.

The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 11:30AM until the time of service.
