Betty Jewel (Grubb) Ward, 81, of Waynesboro passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Birch Gardens. She was born in Pulaski County on March 24, 1936, a daughter of the late Ted Roy Grubb, Gladys (Hurst) and Charles Kegley.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife and homemaker. She was a faithful and active member of Basic United Methodist Church. Cooking, cross-stitch, and gardening were a few of her favorite hobbies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Byron Ward; sister, Loraine Duncan; brother, Curtis Richardson; as well as a number of step siblings.
Survivors include her niece, Robin Wade and her husband, Gary and their son, Whitney Wade and his girlfriend, Gina Wood; nieces, Donna Richardson, Tammy Smith and her companion, Donnie, and Sherry Murphy; nephew, Marty Duncan and his wife, Dee; brother-in-law, Jim Duncan; step sister, June; half-brother, Winston Kegley and his wife, Karen; cousins, Brenda and Pete Childress; caregiver, Kim Poole; special friends, Mildred Creff and Mike Thompson; as well as extended family and friends. Betty also leaves behind her four legged friend, Kitty.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Riverview Cemetery with Pastor Chad Beck officiating. Those desiring to attend the service are asked to please meet at the cemetery.
There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made in Betty's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Homestead Senior Care and Birch Gardens for their loving care of Betty and her family.
