Bettye Anne - aka "Red" by her loving husband Maynard, was the closest you could ever be to an angel on earth. She would blush if you said that and disagree but it is true.

She was a brilliant and classy lady in every sense of the word. She was an only child, born in Little Rock, Arkansas May 6, 1928 to Letha Helen and Guy T. Kavanaugh. She grew up mostly in Muskogee, OK and graduated high school at the top of her class at age 16. She was offered a scholarship to O.U. and against her wishes, went for six weeks but was so homesick for her parents she chose to return home and work as a Secretary in the Adjudication office at the VA where she met her future husband, our father, "Cookie", marrying at 19. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary approximately 1 month before Daddy passed.

They had a great life of travel, fun and dancing before kids.... then enjoyed many more years with all 4 of us. She was a doting wife and the best stay at home Mom most of our lives, returning to work at the State Capitol for 10 years after we had all reached high school. She sacrificed a lot for her family too.

She was compassionate, kind, thoughtful, loving and gentle and put Daddy and all of us before herself. She loved to write, especially poems and always wrote a very clever Christmas poem for her Christmas cards each year. She had beautiful penmanship too. She loved going back to high school reunions and they went to many over the years. She never drank or smoked - opposites attract, as Daddy made up for her. LOL

We had the opportunity to live overseas several different times and although we were none the worse for the wear, she always worried that they did a "disservice" to us. NOT! We let her know of course. Kids are so flexible and find fun anywhere as long as you are loved and with family.

She is already missed tremendously and we will all have a hole in hearts for eternity. She was predeceased by her parents and husband, Maynard Cook. She is survived by her 4 children, Tim Cook and wife Beth, Julie Cook Gossett, Vicki Cook Jones and Mark Cook and wife Lawanda, all living in the surrounding area as well as 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017. Services will be at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill, Texas.

Arrangements under the direction of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512)863-2564.
