Bill D. Hollifield Long Creek – Bill Dillard Hollifield, 93, of 161 Hollifield Lane the husband of the late Ruby Thrift Hollifield, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at the Cottingham House. Born in Georgia, he was a son of the late Walter Clinton and Annie Mae Smith Hollifield. He was retired Logger, Farmer, and owner/operator of Hollifield Apple Orchard. He was long time member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #92 A.F.M., a member of the Long Creek Baptist Church, and a US Army veteran serving during WWII. Surviving is a son: Doug Hollifield and wife Susan of Walhalla, daughter: Jean Ledford of Long Creek, grandchildren: Matt Hollifield, Mark Hollifield, Kerri Hollifield, William Burley III and Angela Dioguardi, great-grandchildren: Jennifer Hollifield and G. Dioguardi, sisters: Maxine Rogers, Ethel Dorman, and Zephine Foster. In addition to his late beloved wife, brothers: George, Frank, and Roy, sisters: Alian Holland, Marie Holbrooks, Fannie Taylor, and Flora Taylor precede him in death. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home with burial will follow at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-3pm. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to OMC Hospice of the Foothills " Cottingham House" 298 Memorial Drive Seneca, SC 29672.
