Mrs. Billie Jean Turner, of Houston, TX, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 05, 2018 in Humble, TX at the age of 88.
Billie was born a twin to parents William and Mildred Bingham on February 12, 1929 in Jacksonville, TX. She spent most of her formative years with her grandparents William and Laura Barber. She was raised as an only child but did have 6 other half-siblings. Five of whom she didn't meet until she was 80. She graduated in 1946 from Jacksonville High School. She met her husband Walter at the Bachelors and Belles club of Houston were they enjoyed the game of bridge, dancing, tennis and bowling. She married Walter Emery Turner, September 19,1958. Billie and Walter's Son, Henry Walter Turner, was born in April of 1970 and during Henry's childhood Billie was a stay at home mother. Walter and Billie Turner were very involved members of Glenbrook United Methodist church and both loved singing in the choir. Billie attended Glenbrook United Methodist church for 56 years. Billie held several jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked for Herrin Transportation Co, Tenneco, Blue Water Marine, Bilter Enterprises, Wesley Foundation at the University of Houston and Glenbrook United Methodist Church. Billie retired at the age of 83 from Glenbrook United Methodist Church. After retirement she moved to Kingwood, Texas and resided at Cypress Woods Retirement home. While there, she attended the Kingwood United Methodist Church. Her last two years she resided at Rosemount Assisted Living. She loved checking on all her fellow residents.
Billie is survived by her son Henry Turner, daughter-in-law Sherry Turner, granddaughter Savannah Turner, grandson Andrew Turner and half-sisters Sammie McDonald, Barbara Curry and Deborah Keller.
Billie is preceded in death by her adoring husband Walter Turner, her two brothers, twin baby Bingham and half-brother William Bingham and half-sisters Betty Pohl and June Cates.
A celebration of Billie's life will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2pm at the Kingwood Funeral Home.
