Billy Jack Thompson, 82, of Magnolia, TX passed away on October 31, 2017. Billy was born in Streetman, TX on December 11, 1934. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Zola Mae Thompson.
Billy graduated from Sam Houston State University with Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. He taught Junior High Science and Math for 4 years, in November of 1961 he became Executive Director of Food Service for Aldine I.S.D. where he worked until his retirement in 1991 after 30 years of service. During his tenure with the school district he would also serve as Treasurer of Texas School Food Service Association, recipient of the Wizard Award, Fame Golden Star Award and the Aldine Food Service Dept. under his leadership would get the Standards of Excellence recognition in 1991 at the State Conference.
Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved the outdoors - hunting and fishing, he was an excellent cook and it was said he had a green thumb. Billy and Zola would have a craft business for several years after he retired where he became quite the craftsman as he would cut and sand all the projects. He loved spending time with his grandkids and always took an interest in their schooling and watching them play sports.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Zola Thompson, parents, William and Belle Thompson and his siblings Lora Belle Thompson, Mary Frances Bryant, Eldon Thompson and Sonny Thompson.
He is survived by his 3 daughters; Sharon and husband Kent Turner, Linda and husband Jim Eaves and Renee and husband Mike Panatex. He has 9 grandchildren; James, Cory, Jake, Alyssa, Jessica, Michelle, Amanda, Carlos and youngest grandchild Rachel. As well as 5 great grandchildren; Arlo, Easton, Julia, Jaime, Marin and 2 more due next year, Hudson and Baby Turner.
Visitation will be at Forest Park Funeral Home, The Woodlands on November 5, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm followed by funeral service on November 6, 2017 at 1:00pm.
