Billy Rudolph Dameron, 87, of Stuarts Draft, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 27, 2017. He was born in Stuarts Draft on February 24, 1929, a son of the late Lawrence and Fannie (Hall) Dameron.
Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as an Instructor of auto body and welding with Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center and was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed working on his yard and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Bobbie Dameron; grandson, Ethan Dameron; and brothers, Calvin "Dick" and Donnie Dameron.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Aileen; children, Ric Dameron of Waynesboro, Tim Dameron and wife, Susan of Stuarts Draft and Sonia Costa and husband, Stephen of Fishersville; grandchildren, Matthew Dameron and wife, Katherine, Daniel Horne, Christy Templeton and husband, Chip, Carmen Dameron, Seth Dameron and wife, Christina, Leah Costa, and Andrew Costa and wife, Brittany; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Bobbie Dameron and wife, Joan of Chesapake, Ray Dameron and wife, Doris of Stuarts Draft, and Ronnie Dameron and wife, Debbie of Stuarts Draft; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Charles Reynolds, Pastor Dennis Bradley, Mr. Larry Nolff and Rev. Charles Perkins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active and Honorary Pallbearers will be his grand and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Billy's memory to the Salvation Army, 900 B. Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
