Burl Layne Scott, 55, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Rucker, Bible Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, officiating. Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery Pavilion under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the funeral home.
Burl was born on June 10, 1962 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Glenn Earl and Joan (Lay) Scott. He was considered a "Jack of all trades" helping his twin brother, Barney, out with many different jobs throughout his life. Burl loved life, family, and good food. He and his brothers always attracted attention for their similar looks, especially he and Barney. He had the biggest heart and would give any chance he could to help someone in need.
Burl is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Scott.
Surviving relatives include his father, Glenn Scott and wife, Jan of Iowa Park; son, Chris Scott and wife, Danielle; son, Bo Scott; step daughter, Jennifer Williams; his children's mother, Sabrina Weatherford; all of Tatum, Texas; twin brother, Barney Scott; brother, Steve Scott and fiancé, Robin, all of Wichita Falls; soon to be grandson, Waylon Scott; nieces and nephews, Brodie Scott, Hayley Martin, Melissa Scott, and Bradley Scott; and his number one girl, his dog, Gizzy.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
