Carmine William Calderone, 90 years old of Troutman, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 10th at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Carmine was born on May 1, 1927 in Italy to the late John and Carmela Calderone. Carmine proudly served his country during WWII in the US Navy. In 1950 he and his partner won the Couples Dance Rolling Skating US Championship in Denver, CO. He is a parishioner and usher at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Statesville.

Carmine was predeceased by his beloved wife Caroline Calderone in 2007 and his sister, Nancy Triandafilos. He is survived by his son, John Calderone and his wife Karen of Troutman; his daughter, Diane Irby and her husband Robert of Statesville; his sister, Joyce Palatella and her husband Tony of Carmel, NY and his grandsons, Anthony Irby and Paul Calderone.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 7-9pm at the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave., Statesville. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday 11am at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, Statesville.
A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11am to 12pm at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton-On-Hudson, NY with the burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carmine's memory to Hospice of Iredell County.
