Carol Ann Kell, 78, of Xenia, Illinois passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Way-Fair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Fairfield, Ill.

Carol was born February 25, 1939, in Orchardville, Ill., to Hubert and Edith (McConnaughhay) Brashear. She married Byron Edwin Kell April 4, 1959, in Wayne County, Ill. He preceded her in death October 29, 2001.

Carol was a housewife, worked at area country grocery stores in Johnsonville and Orchardville and helped elderly people.

Carol was a member of Pleasant Hill 'Needmore' Christian Church at Orchardville where she was the song leader. She enjoyed singing at area churches.

Carol is survived by one daughter Karla Hatton of Boulder City, Nevada; and one son Kevin (Vanessa) Kell of Orchardville, Ill.; one sister Judy (Jim) Solomon of Orchardville; two brothers Larry (Jeanette) Brashear of Johnsonville, Ill., and Ed (Janice) Brashear of Iuka. Also surviving are four grandchildren Michael (Ashley) Kell, Colby Kell, and Carmen (Jared) Stanley all of Orchardville, and Anna Hatton of Boulder City, Nevada and three great grandchildren Dalli, Bentley, and Braelynn and one on the way, Cyrus Stanley.

Preceding her in death were her husband Ed, one brother Garry (and the late Connie) Brashear, two sisters Rowena (and the late Jim Burge) and Sheila Smith, and her parents.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Needmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Hosselton Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Needmore Church Building Fund, American Cancer Fund or American Heart Association and will be accepted at Hosselton Funeral Home.
