Carol Lynn Wilder, 78, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2017, in Arlington, Virginia. Born on June 25, 1939, in Durant Oklahoma, Carol was the eldest daughter of Floyd and Nadine Bryant. Having grown up in a military family, and later as a military wife, Carol enjoyed travelling the world. Her love of travel and sense of adventure remained throughout her life. During her lifetime, she volunteered for a variety of organizations, and she mastered many crafts, including calligraphy, floral design, sewing, quilting and needle point, just to name a few.

Carol studied at the University of Hawaii and The American University. She also enjoyed a successful career as a real estate agent for 35 years in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Known for her sparkling personality, quick wit and exquisite wardrobe, Carol would light up the room the moment she walked in. She treasured the time she spent with her family and friends, and she always welcomed them with warmth, good spirit and grace.

Carol is survived by her daughters Tracy Wilder and Leslie Wilder, her sister Janet (Cornelius) Mieras, her nephews Spencer (Toni) Mieras and Cornelius (Ronda) Mieras Jr., and her great nephews and nieces Reagan, Matthew, Barrett and Gianna. She is also survived by her longtime companion Dean Hill, her former husband Richard Wilder, and her brother-in-law Kendall (Karen) Wilder.

Visitation is Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St, Falls Church. Funeral Service is Monday, October 2, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Walker Chapel, 4102 N. Glebe Rd, Arlington. Friends are also invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life immediately following the funeral service, from 12:30 to 3:30, at the Lyon Park Community Center, 414 N. Fillmore St, Arlington.

Memorial contributions may be made to City Dogs Rescue (, which is where she adopted her beloved dog Ally from.
