Oliverea-

Carole M. Krickhahn, 66 of Frost Valley Road died Saturday January 15, 2011 at her residence with her family surrounding her, after a battle with cancer. She was born January 19, 1944 in White Sulfur Springs, NY daughter of Wanda Kocijanski Cypert and the late Paul Cypert. Carole and her husband Paul owned and operated the Valley View House on the Oliverrea Road where they graciously hosted thousands of guests over a twenty year period. They sold the business in 2000, and for the past ten years, she has been the head housekeeper at the Emerson Resort in Mt. Tremper. She had a green thumb as witnessed by both her vegetable and flower gardens. Carole was the consummate hostess, a wonderful cook, and made the best apple pies. She was a registered nurse, and was a natural care giver to those in need. She was devouted to her grandchildren, and did not miss an opportunity to stress the importance of a good education.
Surviving in addition to her mother, are her husband of 44 years, Paul G. Krickhahn, a son Paul Jr. & his wife Heather of New Kingston, a daughter Kathy & her husband Paul Phillips of Osawatomie, KS, 5 grandchildren: Kirsten, Katelyn, and Jake Phillips, Amanda and Paul A. Krickhahn. A sister Sue Cypert of Canton, NY and a brother Tom Cypert of Woodbourne, and brother-in-law Fred Krickhahn of Margaretville. She was predeceased by her sister nancy Demetry in 2009.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled for later in the Spring. Arrangements are under the direction of the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home Phoenicia. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Frost Valley YMCA Health Center in Carole's memory. Paul and his family would especially like to thank Tammany from 'Always There' health care, Jeanne George and friends at the Emerson, the nurses at Benedictine Hospital, Dr. Gina Carena & Dr. Paul Donavan for their care and compassion.
