After raising her sons, she began her professional work life with positions at the Spring Independent School District, NW Houston Business News, Lea Publishing and A&S Advertising.

She was actively involved in the American Heart Association, Give the Kids a Christmas, St. Patrick's Day Parade, NW Houston Women's Club, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Committee, Red Hat Society, and NW Harris County Chamber of Commerce. Her donated rum cakes and brownies were highly sought after auction items at events supporting local charities.
