Mr. Carroll "Cosmo" L. Brinkley, 86, of Evansville, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital. He was born February 7, 1931 in Blackford, KY, to the late James Austin and Geneva Francis (West) Brinkley.
He was a proud US Navy Veteran of 14 years, and served on the USS Macon with his two brothers, Robert and Edward. He retired in 1996 as maintenance supervisor at Lewis Bakery, where he was employed for over 40 years. Carroll was a very kind man, never met a stranger and was a very giving person. He enjoyed gospel music and playing the guitar.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Lucille Brinkley; brothers, Edward and Robert Brinkley; sister, Patricia Brinkley and grandson, Jason David Brinkley.
He is survived by children, David (Connie) Brinkley, Rebecca Chandley, Timothy Brinkley and Elizabeth Johns (fiancé Jerry DeHart); grandchildren, Dana Brinkley (Doug) Gillis, Heather LeAnn (Dirk) Schockley,Roger Brammer II, Brandon Chandley, Megan Chandley, Allyson Chandley, Richard Lynch IV, Ashley Lynch, and Jeremy Lynch; 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and 1 great-great granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Rev. James Pickerill. Military Rites will also be performed. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to service time.
