Catherine (Casy) Anders Schermerhorn, 49, of Seattle, WA died suddenly on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Casy was born on November 9, 1968 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She grew up in Los Alamos, NM enjoying her family and friends, riding horses, skiing, and visiting her grandparents' cabin in the Pecos mountains.

Casy moved to Washington with her family and attended the University of Washington. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English with honors. For the last twelve years, Casy worked hard as a court clerk for the state of Washington, displaying a natural gift for writing legal forms.

Casy lived life through simple pleasures by talking and visiting with her family and friends. In Seattle, her creativity bloomed into beautiful artwork, lovely poetry and even singing in a band. She was deeply involved with the Seattle music scene. Casy was a very avid reader who was quick to recommend a book and even quicker to start a recommended book. She loved hosting food parties for her family and friends, where even experimental tastes were woven into the family fabric. She was unique, creative, and caring.

Catherine loved God, was raised in the Church of Christ, and was a member of the Baptist family.

Casy is deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Catherine is survived by her parents Sarabeth and Jim McNeese and Mark Slimp, husband Chris Schermerhorn, brothers Andy McNeese (Linh), John McNeese, Dan McNeese, nephew Emmet, uncles Greg Anders, David McNeese (Amanda), aunts Judith Barrett (Bill), Janie Anders (Susan), Mary Montoya, Dody Blankley (Roy), Becky Weaver (Phil), grandmother Dorothy McNeese, dear friends Olaf Braseth and Billy Bob, Richard Leon and Dan Jacobson, and many cousins and special friends.
