Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Columbkille's Church

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Behr Funeral Home.

The Parish Wake Service will be said at Behr's on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

Cecilia was born Dec. 27, 1920 in Dubuque, Iowa-
Daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Mauer) Backes

Girlie attended St. Anthony's Grade School and was a class of 1938 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. She married Howard Rupp on June 3, 1941, in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2003. Girlie and Howard moved to Oakland, CA to work in the shipyards during World War II. After the war they moved back to Dubuque. Girlie was a full time wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a member of St. Columbkille's and its Rosary Society. Girlie was an avid Euchre player and reader, often reading 3 books a week before she lost her sight.

Girlie is survived by:
Daughter: Sue Robinson, Asbury, Iowa
2 Grandchildren: Miki Robinson, Dubuque, Iowa
Wes Robinson, Tempe, Arizona
many nieces and nephews

Girlie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 5 sisters and 4 brothers, she was the youngest of the 10.

Memorials may be given to the Bell Tower Theater Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, 700 Locust St., Dubuque, IA 52001
