Charles A. Foster, 95, of Manchester passed away Sunday at Ocean Medical Center. Born in Portland, CT, he resided in Neptune City before eventually moving to Manchester. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and continued in the Navy Reserve for a total military service of 38 years. While in the Navy Reserve, he flew blimps at Lakehurst for many years, a task he thoroughly enjoyed. After returning from service in World War II, he was employed as an auto mechanic for Joseph F. Stein Cadillac in Asbury Park. He loved to golf, play chess and drive his motor home all across the U.S.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Amy L. Gray, in 2004. Surviving are his beloved wife of 68 years, Lorna; a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Tom Zaborney of Manchester a granddaughter, Lori Munn and her husband, Cliff; and four great-grandchildren, Chyann, Cody, Faun and Lance.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday between 4 pm and 7 pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester. A funeral service will be held at 6 pm, Thursday, during the visitation. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, P.O.
