Charles Briggs Wilborn, 88, from Port Lavaca, passed away on August 24, 2017 in Hewitt, TX. He was born in Port Lavaca to Everett and Leona Wilborn on March 1, 1929. He graduated from Port Lavaca High School. After high school he served his country in the U.S. army for 3 years. He married Patricia Hoffman on February 9, 1953. He spent the majority of his working career as foreman for Alcoa for 32 years.
During retirement, Briggs enjoyed fishing, gardening, and games. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, playing dominoes, and being around his family!
Briggs was a member of Crestview Church of Christ in Waco since moving to Waco in 2014 and had been a life-long member of Church of Christ in Port Lavaca where he volunteered his time.
Briggs was an obedient servant to his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a man who had his priorities in order: faith, family, and friends.
Charles Briggs Wilborn is preceded in death by his son Keith Everett. He
is survived by his wife of 64 years Pat, children DD Hoffman and wife Kelly of McAllen, Briggs Wilborn and wife Cathy of Corpus Christi, Dollyn Tusa and husband Johnny of Waco, Lynette Mallory and husband Pat of Magnolia. Sisters Inona Buren of Port Lavaca, Peggy Leigh of Port Lavaca and Brother Tommy Wilborn of Wichita Falls. Grandchildren Sommer, Christopher, Barrett, Haley, Samantha, Kelly, Bryan, Jennifer, Casey, Lauren, Tricia, and Brooke and great-grandchildren Brady, Scarlet, Harry, Harper, Kylie, Calhoun, Cooper, Wade, and Briggs. Briggs' tenth great-grandchild will be added to his legacy on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00, Friday, September 8, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in Port Lavaca, on Saturday, September 9 at 10:00 at Richardson-Colonial with Shan Jackson of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Gardens.
Memorials may be given to Church of Christ in Port Lavaca.
The family of Briggs wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Stoney Brook Assisted Living of Hewitt and Bluebonnet Health Care for the amazing love and care they gave Briggs during his time of illness.
