Charles Edward McCreight, 84, passed away at his home July 7, 2017 in Kingwood, TX. Chuck was born in 1933 in Elmira, New York to Charles and Mary nee Miller McCreight. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy and received his BS degree from Bowling Green State University (Ohio) where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He met the love of his life, Marilyn McLaughlin during his high school years and went on to marry her in 1954. He proudly served in the US Army spending several years stationed at the Pentagon. While Chuck was employed by Gulf Oil the McCreight family lived for several years in Seoul, Korea and enjoyed an adventurous life living and traveling abroad. They settled in Kingwood, TX where he had a long career with Gulf Oil and upon retirement he enjoyed golfing with his wife Marilyn and spending time watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He also was a great fan of Western novels and movies, especially John Wayne.
Chuck is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Marilyn in 2016 and their daughter Karen Hornberger in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Glenda Jean McCreight; son-in-law Stephen Hornberger; grandchildren, Claire Andreasen & husband DJ, Jack Hornberger & wife Sierra and Mark Hornberger; sister, Patricia Colburn & Mark Sealy; and brother Richard McCreight & wife Judy.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Kingwood Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Chapel of Kingwood Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Houston, TX.
